***ARC received in exchange for an honest review*** BLURB In a sprint, every millisecond counts. When you're waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons. High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don't kill each other. His saving grace? Lois "Laney" Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven. A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage. It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love. Eight life-changing seconds. It's also the exact length of time it took to lose her. REVIEW So I have to be honest. Although I love books by Jay McLean, and her serie More Than is absolutely one of my favorites, I couldn't connect with this one from the beginning. I actually find it quite confusing. But then...BAAAM! Somewhere in the middle, between pages Jay sucked me in this sweet, heartwarming and little sad love story about Lucas and Laney. I fell in love. In Lucas, in Laney, in Laney's dad, Preston family... I was blown away with kindness, love and respect they have for each other. "It's not about the dance. It's about moving, as on, with a person whose heart beats to the same rhythm as yours. It's about love, about life." Laney and Lucas have been best friends from the moment they saw each other for the first time, and they were inseparable. Now when they grew up, feelings grew aswell in something more then friendship, but both of them are holding those feelings back. Finally when everything looks perfect and they stop holding feelings shit hits the fan! I was pissed. I wanted both of them happy. Together. But Jay had other plans, and ohmigod... my heart broke, I was crying when I read THAT part... Believe me you'll now which one. In the same time I was still pissed. On both Laney and Lucas. Why all that happend? Was it inevitable? Let's just say in the end I get it. We all make wrong decisions in life and those decisions take us on wrong path. But what makes us strong is that moment when we realize we are going "down" in the wrong way, and we find courage to go back on the right road. We LEARN. We always LEARN. "I know that might sound selfish, and it is, but I didn't want to let you go. And now... I hate sleeping in a bed without you in it. I hate waking up and not having you next to me. I'm IN this, Lane, and I'm crazy in love with you." Neather Lucas nor Laney are perfect, but they are perfect together. They care, they love and they are here for each other, for better or worse. I have to say Lucas is my favorite character in this book. He is such a soul. Well-mannered, caring, sweet with big heart for Laney and for his family. To young to have so many responsibilities and yet he handled all the problems. I admired that. Laney is very sweet girl, I wanted to protect her from very beginning because of her mother (I'm not sure we should call her like that). I was happy because Laney had an amazing dad, plus she found Lucas. I could write about this book for hours but I don't want to spoil anything for you. I will just say you HAVE TO read this book. It's beautiful story about FAMILY, FRIENDSHIP and LOVE. And you will learn something, because we always LEARN, and i knew that before but this book made me realize, I forgot to look around me, I forgot to learn, and every day we learn, every day is lesson. All Jay's books are emotional roller costers. You can feel sad, angry, happy, excited, in love... and you'll enjoy in every feeling, you'll not want to end her book. For me this is #MUSTREAD. Guys be ready because Lucas is coming November 1st! You can pre-order Lucas on here. Thank you Jay on this AMAZING read, and thank you for ARC. I'll do it anytime! :D AUTHOR BIO Jay McLean is an international best-selling author and full-time reader, writer of New Adult Romance, and most of all, procrastinator.
